Loire Valley wedding photographer

Nature, cinema, and the people you love.

I’m Hugues, a wedding photographer and composer based in Lailly-en-Val, near Orléans. I create natural, cinematic photographs for couples getting married in the Loire Valley.

A château, an old abbey, a garden beneath the trees… I’m interested in the way you bring a place to life. The gestures, the light, the people around you. Everything that will make these photographs feel like your own story.

Getting married in the Loire Valley

If you’ve chosen the Loire Valley, the setting probably matters to you. The gardens, the stone, the space around a château or an abbey. I pay attention to those things too, and to the way they become part of your day.

I’m based in Lailly-en-Val, near Orléans. My work in the region includes couple portraits at La Tortinière near Tours, a wedding at the abbey of Seuilly in Touraine, and a celebration at La Blondellerie near Chambord. You can explore photographs and stories from these different places below.

A château wedding around Blois, a celebration near Orléans or an intimate day in Touraine will each have its own rhythm. We’ll talk about what drew you to your venue, where the important moments will happen and how much time you want to spend with your guests.

The setting gives us places to work with: a doorway, a stretch of garden, a room with soft window light. Your photographs grow from the way you use those places and the people you share them with. The architecture stays part of the story, alongside the gestures, conversations and atmosphere of your day.

A cinematic story, a natural experience

Cinema, music and nature run through my work. I’m also a composer, and rhythm matters to me in a photographic story: a wide view to understand the place, a closer image of a gesture, a pause, then the energy of the people around you.

I’m drawn to the light on a face, the colour of a room, the way a silhouette sits in a landscape. I work carefully with light, contrast and composition while staying attentive to what is happening. A photograph can hold the shape of an abbey or the depth of a garden and still leave room for something spontaneous.

Most of the day, I photograph things as they happen. During the ceremony and the time with your guests, I watch for the exchanges around you, including the small moments you might not see yourselves. When a little guidance helps, I’ll offer it. For your couple photographs, we can walk, find some light and give you a moment together.

The full gallery brings these different views together: preparations, people, places, details, the ceremony and the celebrations you’ve asked me to cover. The evening has its own light and movement too. That progression is part of what I want you to find when you return to the photographs.

Loire Valley wedding photographs and stories

A selection from several weddings I’ve photographed in the Loire Valley: château interiors near Tours, a garden ceremony in Touraine, and the grounds of La Blondellerie near Chambord. Each photograph belongs to the couple and place named beneath it.

Below, you can follow two wedding stories in more detail: Jeanne & Florian near Tours, and Mathilde & Marius at Seuilly. Both articles are in French.

Jeanne & Florian — château portraits at La Tortinière

Jeanne and Florian wanted photographs that felt natural, intimate and cinematic. Their wedding near Tours unfolded through quiet preparations, a first look, civil and religious ceremonies, and time with the people closest to them.

Rain changed our plans for their couple portraits at Domaine de la Tortinière. We moved indoors, working with the windows, architecture and soft light of the château. The photographs took on a quieter rhythm: a few moments together, the lines of a room, a glance caught in the light.

I love that part of a wedding: finding a way to make images that belong to you, even when the day takes a different turn. The full story also leaves room for the guests, the ceremonies and the warmth of the reception.

Mathilde & Marius — an intimate wedding in Touraine

Mathilde and Marius celebrated at the abbey of Seuilly, in Touraine. Their preparations took place on the estate: morning light in Mathilde’s room, her loved ones around her, and Marius getting ready with his wedding party elsewhere on the property.

They exchanged their vows in the gardens, beneath two trees. Later, a vinyl bar gave the drinks reception its own rhythm, with guests choosing records, talking and dancing. For their couple photographs, we explored the gardens and the area around the dovecote in the warm light of late afternoon.

The story continued into the reception and the first dances. These changes of pace matter to me: the place in the morning, the people gathered for the ceremony, a quieter moment together, then the movement of the evening. They all belong in the same wedding story.

Planning your wedding from abroad

Before you travel

We start with a conversation. You tell me about your plans, what matters to you and how you feel about being photographed. I’ll explain how I work, then share the brochure and a full wedding gallery. You’ll be able to see how a complete day comes together, including the people, details and quieter moments between the portraits.

We can prepare by phone or video call. With the preparation guide and our conversations, we’ll work through the parts of the day you’d like me to cover. Are the preparations, ceremony and reception in the same place? Are there journeys between them? Who would you like in the group photographs? These details help us make a realistic plan.

Making room for light, weather and time together

We’ll discuss when to make your couple photographs and how that time fits around the ceremony, drinks and dinner. The gardens at Seuilly and the pond at La Blondellerie show two different ways a venue can become part of the photographs. Your own location will guide our choices.

We can also talk through alternatives if the weather changes: sheltered areas, indoor spaces with window light, or another moment in the day. The aim is to leave some flexibility while keeping time for you to be with your guests. If you’re working with a planner, we can discuss the photography within the wider schedule.

After the celebration

I select and edit the photographs with the same care I bring to the day. You receive previews within 72 hours, followed by the complete gallery in around three to four weeks. The gallery is private, password-protected and available for a year, with downloads for you and your guests.

Prints and albums can give that story a place in your home too. Depending on your collection and the options you choose, we can discuss the photographs you’d like to hold, share and return to.

A few questions before we begin

Are you based in the Loire Valley?

Yes. I’m based in Lailly-en-Val, near Orléans, and photograph weddings across the Loire Valley. I also travel elsewhere in France and Europe. Any travel and accommodation costs are discussed for your venue and set out in the quote.

Can we get in touch in English?

Yes. You can write to me in English through the contact page. Share your date, your venue and a few words about your plans.

What if we’re not used to being photographed?

You don’t need any experience. I’ll give you simple guidance when it helps and leave room for you to interact naturally. An engagement session is also an option if you’d like to spend some time together before the wedding.

How do we explore coverage and pricing?

Send me your date, your venue or the area you’re considering. We’ll begin with a discovery call, then I’ll share the brochure and a full wedding gallery. Together, we can choose the coverage that fits your plans and discuss any options before I prepare your quote.

Tell me about your Loire Valley wedding

Tell me what’s taking shape: a place you love, the people you’re bringing together, the kind of day you want to share with them. And tell me what drew you to my photographs.

I’d love to hear what you have in mind and see whether my way of telling a story feels right for yours.
